We are one of the original members of the Detroit Environmental Agenda (DEA), a Detroit-based coalition of organizations, researchers and businesses, founded in 2011, to advance environmental justice and sustainability in the City of Detroit. The DEA has produced Voter Guides for Detroit elections since 2013. In the guides, we have presented voters with responses received from municipal candidates on a variety of environmental, community, and environmental justice matters, including a question on vehicles speeds and road safety.

The City of Detroit is kicking off July with the Westside Wednesday Mini-Challenge (June 19 - July 31, 2021)! The mini-challenge is a part of the larger Detroit Bike Challenge that launched in May and will run through October 2021. The Detroit Bike Challenge is open to anyone who lives/works in the City over the age of 13.

 To participate in the upcoming Westside Wednesday Mini-Challenge, riders must:

-       Post a “story” or photo on Love to Ride using #WestsideWednesday showing their attendance at at least one Westside Wednesday ride. Riders can enter up to 2 times (one for each Westside Wednesday ride between July 19 and July 31) AND/OR

-      Log a ride any time between July 19-31 ) AND/OR

-       Encourage a friend to sign up for Love to Ride using the unique invite link in your profile.

 By participating in the Bike for Change Mini-Challenge, you will be entered to win one of three $50 VISA gift cards! 

Detroit's Streets for People transportation plan continues to make progress. The city has published a draft map of slow streets, which are residential streets "with some form of traffic calming, such as speed cushions and signage to help you access key destinations such as parks and schools within your neighborhood. The goal is to create a low-stress, safe network of streets for walking, biking, scootering, etc. to explore Detroit's neighborhoods."

A draft list of action items are also on the website. They're asking Detroiters to take a survey to help prioritize these items. 

Detroit is developing an East Riverfront Assets Study as part of their Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan. This study will focus on the current condition of four main park areas, needed repairs, future investments, and a strategic vision. The study is currently collecting input via an online survey and should be completed by the end of the year.
