The West McNichols streetscape between Wyoming and Livernois appears to be nearly done. This includes a one-mile cycletrack along the north side of the road. What stands out are the new thicker green posts. It will be interesting to see if they are more durable than the thinner white delineators we're used to seeing.
The similar-looking Kercheval streetscape between Mt. Elliott and St. Jean also appears to be close to completion. This also has a cycletrack along the north side of the road with bike traffic signals. This is 2.5 miles long. If you haven't seen this project yet, we did put a ride video on our YouTube channel. The Conner Avenue cycletrack and sidepath are still under construction. Altogether, these new facilities will provide a 2-mile two-way pathway from E. Jefferson to Chandler Park and be part of the Conner Creek Greenway. Community engagement on the East Warren streetscape design between Courville and Cadieux continues. A second meeting is scheduled for October 6th at 5:30pm. You can Join by Zoom or call in at: 1-312-626-6799. The City of Detroit recently held a series of community meetings on the E. Jefferson Corridor project. One question was whether one-way bike lanes on both sides of the street (like at Livernois' Avenue of Fashion) are preferred over a two-way cycletrack on the south side of the road. Both options would be at sidewalk level. If you missed the meetings, the presentation is now online. Also note that the recent repaving of the vehicle lanes was only a quick fix until this larger project begins construction in 2023. |
